LASHINGS 2006

On Sunday 25th June 2006 the Lashings World XI visited Reigate Priory CC to play what has become an annual Charity Event at the Priory. Lashings bring a wealth of world class cricketers to the ground and this year was no exception with the inclusion of Sachin Tendulkar. Add to this the flavour of World Cup football with England playing Ecuador , the Reigate Priory sports ground was the place to be on a warm summers day. With the added interest of Sachin Tendulkar the ground filled quickly. What I recall most is the openings hours of the cricket with Reigate Priory getting an early wicket with Greg Blewett going first ball of the day , caught behind. From then on it was pretty much the Tendalkar / Richardson show. After 4pm it was the England Ecuador game with what has become the regular nail biting 2 hours of anxiety for most supporters - but they made it through again.
