CRANLEIGH FC  (1) 4     REIGATE PRIORY FC  (1) 1

                                                                                               Shear 1

In a floodlit fixture at Cranleigh FC , Priory had their toughest test of the preseason campaign. Cranleigh played at a pace an accuracy that Priory had yet to encounter. In perfect playing conditions  , Cranleigh set the pace of the game with some swift smooth passing supported by pacey players in most areas of the pitch. Priory did well to stay in the game in the early stages , and having adjusted started to come more into the game. Crossley  had a good effort saved by the keeper and Shears and Carlo went close. Priory took the lead when Shears scored with a great strike direct from a free kick. Cranleigh maintained their style of play and Priory defended well limiting Cranleigh to long range efforts. However , just on half time Cranleigh won a direct free kick on the edge of the box. A good strike evaded the diving Shearman to make it 1-1 at half time.

Cranleigh upped the tempo early in the second half and won a penalty. Shearman brought off an unbelievable reaction save to keep the scores level. Minutes later Shearman again made a succession of great saves to keep Priory in the game. Eventually the pressure told and Priory were opened up on three consecutive occassions giving Cranleigh a 4-1 lead. Priory showed good spirit and responded with some good efforts with Cristoforu having the best of the chances.

Game finished 4-1.

A good work out for Priory against higher League opposition on a pitch with a great playing surface.

Priory next game Saturday 2nd September against SALA , venue Court Lodge KO 4pm.
