Reigate Priory hosted Oxted & District in the Surrey South Eastern Combination Senior League Cup for their first game of the season at their main home ground on Park Lane, Reigate. The home side could have been two down inside fifteen minutes but Man of the Match Mark Halsey saved superbly from a Buster Hoy curling shot and a close range header from Billy Stagg and failed to really produce much at the other end, but made it to the break at 0-0. Priory came out of the blocks quickly and within three minutes of the re-start, Shane O’Keeffe won a header from a corner and James Long was sharpest to react to turn the ball in. However, within a minute Oxted had pulled level with a close-range finish from a low cross. Priory continued to battle and Alex Frullini finished well after the away goalkeeper had saved well from James Long’s strike. Scott Johnson made a superb goal line clearance but was given his marching orders late on for dissent and just as Priory looked set to advance to the next round they conceded a header with literally the last touch of the game from a controversially awarded corner. In the first half of extra time, Alex Frullini coolly slotted past the goalkeeper when through on goal putting Priory ahead for the third time with his second goal of the game but a defensive lapse just a minute later and another header from a corner midway through the second half saw the Reigate fall behind for the first time. Liam Watts nearly equalised in the dying seconds but Oxted held on to advance to the second round.
