West Fulham 4 – 1 Reigate Priory (8th September 2018)

Reigate Priory travelled to West Fulham for their first game of the season in the South Eastern Combination League Division One, having been relegated from the Surrey Elite League last season. The Reigate side struggled to get the ball down and play on a small pitch that was of a standard poorer than they had become accustomed to playing on, and midway through the first half Luke Reid gave the ball away on the halfway line after a bobble for West Fulham’s top marksman Tommy Harper to race clear and coolly slot past Mark Halsey for 1-0. Priory pulled level on the hour mark when a cross from Cappa Hughes was flicked on by James Long and bundled in from close range by Andrew Georgiades. But things took a turn for the worse shortly after when West Fulham broke down the right wing and put in a low cross to the back post for Matt Allen to turn in from close range. Ryan McDowell smashed in from close range to make it three and Tommy Harper added his second and his side’s fourth rounding Halsey in the Priory goal and turning into an open net. A disappointing result but it could have been more if not for a few smart saves from Priory goalkeeper Mark Halsey.
